Country File: GHANA
Rich with African heritage, Ghana is home to some of the friendliest people on the planet. One would never know that these precious people once bore the brutality of colonization, had much of their land stripped of valuable minerals, and endured the enslaving of their own. Though there is a Christian influence in the nation, many are still captivated with the animistic religions of old. Though smaller than the American state of Oregon, Ghana is one of Africa’s most densely populated countries.
Village Evangelism: Team members will be heavily involved in ministering in the villages where our contact has planted churches. Everyone will have a chance to touch the lives of many people through evangelism, reaching out to the children, and spending time encouraging, teaching, and praying with the local church body.
Teaching: Our contact has an elementary school where they minister the gospel while giving a great elementary education. Teams will be involved and engaged in teaching. There will also be the opportunity to teach various classes in a Bible-School setting, and help in leadership training with our contact's key leaders. Teaching and preaching in a church conference-style setting, as well as ministering in schools to children, are both available forms of ministry.

Malaria* is required. A recent tetanus, Hepatitis A, Yellow Fever, and Typhoid shots are all recommended**.
*Please see your personal physician before taking any anti-malarial medicine. GI provides each person with anti-malarial tablets unless your physician requires you to take a daily prescription; if this is the case, he or she will prescribe a different tablet that you must acquire yourself.
**GI staff can assist you with acquiring any necessary vaccination or medication information required for foreign travel.
Vaccination and immunization costs are not included in your total trip cost as you will have to obtain these at a medical facility where you live. If you have any questions or concerns about your immunizations, please contact your family physician before they are administered.
The team will be staying with our contact in his home. Everyone will have at least one roommate, but have their own bed; no sleeping bags, pillows or sheets are necessary. Meals will occur almost entirely at the house, prepared by a local, professional chef. Clean water is readily available.
There will be many cultural sites to see and explore here in West Africa. You will have the opportunity to explore the jungle on a rope bridge, visit Cape Coast where you can tour an old slavery fort, see the beautiful coastline, and shop for souvenirs, most of which are hand-made artifacts.
All other information, including what to pack, weather conditions, country history, fundraising techniques, health recommendations, and cross-cultural travel tips are all included in the INFUSION ADVENTURES manual you will receive once your application and deposit has been turned in to Global Infusion.
