Country File: THAILAND
The kingdom of Thailand lies in the heart of southeast Asia and draws more visitors than any other country in this region. Thailand is well-known for its breathtaking natural beauty, impressive temples, and historic ruins of ancient kingdoms. Thai people offer friendliness and hospitality, adding to the appeal of this country. Among all the beauty of this nation, there is great need. Thailand is one of the most strongly Buddhist countries in the world, with Buddhism being practiced by 95% of Thais. Millions of people are lost and in need of a Savior.
Minstry and Outreach
This trip is recommended for those 18 years of age and older
Evangelism is a strong focus of this trip. Global Infusion has multiple ministry locations, and as a result, there are various opportunities to reach people with the love of God through methods such as street-witnessing, working with girls who have been victimized by the sex-industry, or teaching English, just to name a few. One of our contacts is planting a church in the heart of Bangkok and reaching out to those who make the "nightlife" industry happen.
Teams staying for an extended period of time may choose to minister at multiple locations, including a village outreach.
Airfare and In-country Transportation
At Global Infusion, we are committed to taking care of as many logistical details as possible, so you, the short-term missionary, can focus on your INFUSION ADVENTURE. We coordinate all the airline travel booking as it is included in the trip cost. We also are responsible for the organization of all in-country transportation. The costs of all flights or other transportation are included in the total trip cost.
Passports & Visas
Both a valid passport and a Thai visa are required for travel. If you do not have a valid passport, please click here to obtain one. Once you have a passport, we will contact you regarding acquiring a Thai visa. Global Infusion will facilitate all visa processing. Visa and processing are included in the total trip cost.
A recent tetanus and Hepatitis A are both recommended.
(GI staff will help you with acquiring any necessary vaccination or medication information required for foreign travel.) Vaccination and immunization costs are not included in your total trip cost as you will have to obtain these at a medical facility where you live. If you have any questions or concerns about your immunizations, please contact your family physician before they are administered.
In Bangkok, the team will be staying at a dorm-type facility. While in Bangkok, most meals will occur at local Thai restaurants. While traveling around the city, there will be times to eat at local food vendors that have been approved by our contacts.
Depending on the ministry site, team members will be staying either a modest hotel, or similar dorm-type facility that they stayed at in Bangkok.; both have been experienced and approved by GI staff. Meals will be prepared by our contact's staff members. A sleeping bag and a pillow are recommended for this part of the trip (a thin roll-up mat may also be considered).
While in Thailand, there are many options for excursions. One full day will be devoted to Buddhist temple tours in Bangkok.
Additional excursion possibilities are available depending on the region of Thailand the team will be traveling to.
There will be plenty of opportunity for souvenir shopping.
All other information, including what to pack, weather conditions, country history, fundraising techniques, health recommendations, and cross-cultural travel tips are all included in the INFUSION ADVENTURES manual you will receive once your application and deposit has been turned in to Global Infusion.
