“Be anxious for nothing but in everything, by prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving let your request be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6.
This is my go to verse in times my heart gets anxious. I get nervous speaking in front of groups. Even in the Philippines, I am preparing my heart and speech for when I will be called to talk in front of the children for story time or the adults during Bible study.
I wasn’t nervous coming to the Philippines. Flying to the other side of the world where they have an active volcano and a serious deadly virus doesn’t bother me. But speaking in front of a group, that makes me nervous. Lol.
I find my mind thinking, “let someone else speak today” but I rebuke that thought because I did not fly to the other side of the world to not be of use. I was not led here to sit on the side while others did the encouraging.
God has equipped me. God has equipped you. You don’t feel equipped? You are! Are you nervous? Me too but that is ok. Still walk out in faith. Are you afraid of failure? The what if’s, “what if I act weird? What if I stumble on my words? What if I go blank while I am up in front of others?” I hear you. Those are legitimate concerns. But let me give you a different perspective. “What if you do well? What if you succeed? What if you enjoy it so much you can’t wait to speak again?”
What if others are that much closer to God because you spoke? Something to think about.
