About Mission Trips to Nepal

Draped along the greatest heights of the Himalayas, Nepal is where the ice cold of the mountains meets the unrelenting heat of the Indian plains. It’s a land of yetis and yaks, Sherpas and stupas and probably the best trekking on earth. Nepal is also the world’s only Hindu Kingdom – it is recognized as the national religion. When less than 2% of the population consider themselves Christian, Nepal is a harvest field just waiting for laborers.

Ministry in Nepal

Evangelism & Teaching

Teams to Nepal will have a strong evangelism and discipleship focus. The majority of outreach will take place in villages where team members will be ministering in local church services and homes. With 80% of Nepal’s population dependent on agriculture, many people live in underdeveloped areas—there is a great need for people to teach basic hygiene, teach English, disciple through Bible teaching, minister to women, and reach out to the children. Among other excursion possibilities, Global Infusion teams may also have the option of prayer walking and visiting the Everest trekking area.

Medical

While every country has many people who need volunteer health care professionals to visit their area, there are some specific regions of Nepal containing people that are in dire need of medical attention. Most live in the eastern part of the country near the Himalayas.

Airfare and In-country Transportation

At Global Infusion, we are committed to taking care of as many logistical details as possible, so you, the short-term missionary, can focus on your INFUSION ADVENTURE. We coordinate all the airline travel booking as it is included in the trip cost. We also are responsible for the organization of all in-country transportation.

Passports & Visas

A valid passport is required for travel. If you do not have a valid passport, please click here to obtain one. A Visa is also required to enter Nepal; however, this will be obtained at the airport upon arrival. In order to expedite the process, a Global Infusion staff member will guide you through the steps of getting all the necessary paperwork ready ahead of time.

Immunizations

A recent tetanus and Hepatitis A and B are recommended. If you have any questions or concerns about your immunizations, please contact your family physician before they are administered.

The team will be staying in modest hotels during their time in Nepal. Most teams to Nepal will not stay in the same location for the duration of the entire trip. The hotels will have beds, sheets, pillows and a towel. There will be different opportunities for food, ranging from Nepali restaurants, to eating with the villagers, and clean water or bottled water is always available. Weather conditions can be extreme – Global Infusion will guide each team on appropriate gear needed.
There will be time set aside for souvenir shopping in the downtown district of Kathmandu. There are plenty of options for purchases including, but not limited to, trekking gear, clothing made from cashmere or pashmina, teas, and many other items. Depending on the length of the trip, there will be several options for team members for some amazing excursions including a jungle safari, a flight around Mt. Everest, a trekking trip to Everest’s base camp, and whitewater rafting. (Note: some of these excursions incur an additional cost to the total trip cost – a Global Infusion staff member will inform you of the specific costs associated with each excursion.)
All other information, including what to pack, weather conditions, country history, fundraising techniques, health recommendations, and cross-cultural travel tips are all included in the INFUSION ADVENTURES manual you will receive once your application and deposit has been turned in to Global Infusion.
