COMBAT

by | Jul 1, 2025 | President's Blog

If you have not yet been on a mission trip, there is something that happens the weeks and days leading up to launch day: the enemy attacks — frequently, and with increasing strength. He will do anything he can to stop you and the members of your team from taking the life-saving Gospel of Jesus Christ into the darkness.

Jesus warned us in John 10:10 that this would happen: “The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy….”

If you’ve wished that the devil would just leave you alone, I’m here to tell you that he won’t — but there is good news — he is a defeated enemy. Not only will he not relent from daily attacks on believers, but the more you step out and do great things for God, the more you become a target. Yet, if you know this will happen, you can prepare—spiritual warfare is combat.

Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” The crazy things that begin to happen to you and around you before a mission trip are not coincidence — they are calculated moves by the enemy to thwart the move of God. Jesus also promised us, These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

We have just had GI teams in Egypt, the Philippines, Japan, Poland and Guatemala. All of us can attest to the reality of spiritual warfare on our lives, bodies, minds and spirits—but when we begin seeing people saved, healed and delivered, it is ALL WORTH IT!
