Encounter

At one point in your life, you had an encounter with Jesus. No matter what your age, there was a day when you finally got on your knees, or lifted your hands, or quietly prayed to yourself alone or in a crowd, and said “yes” to Jesus becoming Savior and Lord of your life. Global Infusion is determined to reach the unreached and hear and see more people say the same thing. Paul, the Apostle, had quite the encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus (Acts 9). But his encounters, and ours, did not end there. 

In Acts 19, Paul is in the middle of his missionary journeys and arrives in Ephesus, only to have an encounter with Demetrius, a silversmith who made the silver shrines for the god, Diana. As Paul was preaching the Gospel and explaining the Holy Spirit, this man incited a riot among the people. While it may seem he was just defending his “god,” there were really two reasons that the city erupted after this encounter: 1) the enemy wanted to destroy the expansion of the Gospel and the name of Jesus, and 2) it was, and usually is, all about money. Worshiping a God freely and receiving Salvation freely because of grace always angers powerful people in false religions and cults. It is demonic at it’s root. We know this, because it always happens on the mission field. The enemy is perfectly satisfied when believers stay home and do not disrupt his plans of death and destruction of souls around the world. But when we say “yes” to the great commission, we must be ready for an encounter with the one who was cast out of Heaven. Yet in our weakness, Jesus is strong; and because we have had an encounter with HIM, the victory is ours.
