Romans 10:14-15 (NKJV)
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace.”
You have just read our theme verse for 2021. If we, for one second, have forgotten that there are still millions lost without Jesus, and literally billions who haven’t heard His Name once, then we must be reminded. If we have forgotten that there are those living in nations around the world that have faced the same pandemic, but seriously lacked resources, food, shelter, and access to adequate medical care, then we must be reminded. If we have forgotten that those who were vulnerable before, the orphan, the widow, the young girl or woman, are even more susceptible now to abuse, trafficking, and neglect, then we must be reminded.
The Great Commission is not the “great suggestion” – nor does it come with any kind of great *condition*
Jesus has prepared each of us for such a time as this to reach our generation with the life-giving, life-saving hope He provided through His death and resurrection. How shall they call on Him? They must believe. How shall they believe? They must hear. How shall they hear? We must preach. How shall they preach? We must be sent. We must remember why we go, care enough to go, overcome our pandemic self-preservation tendencies, and GO!
