Longevity is a hard fought battle. In relationships, in work, in ministry. The longer I live, the more I realize the truth behind the adage that it is easier to start something than to finish it. Virtually anything can be started in a day—a friendship begins with a conversation, a new business starts with an idea, a ministry can begin with a word from the Lord. But to sustain these entities, and to see them grow, and to not walk away from them when circumstances get difficult takes leadership, resolve, and a humble spirit before the Lord. Anyone who has led anything in  life will tell you that it is extremely tempting to take the easy way out and quit when things don’t go our way. However, when God calls you to something, it is for a purpose, it will last, and He will give you the strength, wisdom and grace to see it grow and bear fruit.

Paul writes in Philippians 1:6, “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Almost twenty years ago, GI began a relationship with our Ghanaian contact, Pastor Daniel Yaw Akuoko. This man of God grew up as one of 27 children in a remote village of Western Africa. Through a series of miraculous situations, God saved Daniel both spiritually and physically, and raised him up to be highly educated and procure an esteemed position in business. Yet there came a day when God called Daniel into full-time ministry, and he willingly left a potential life of worldly affluence, to follow the calling on his life to plant and Pastor churches among the unreached. This month, Pastor Daniel, his family, and Grace & Faith Ministries celebrate their 25-year ministry anniversary—and I, and the GI team are honored to serve together for almost two decades, and congratulate them on this incredible milestone. Pray for Pastor Daniel and his family today!
