SMILES
Thailand is known for many things. One phrase I have heard it called is: the Land of Smiles. On the surface, and for your average tourist, this may be true, but there is an overwhelming darkness beyond the marketing of their gorgeous beaches, culturally exquisite villages, and vibrant cites.
This beautiful nation is home to over 71 million people, yet 61 million of them are unreached with the Gospel. Less than 2% call themselves Christian. Cites like Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket are toted as night-life hotspots, and indeed they are; they are also riddled with human trafficking, prostitution, ladyboys, drugs, and XXX-rated activities that are visible to anyone walking the streets, including children.
As we go out to the villages, where tourists rarely travel, the chance of anyone knowing that a Savior died for them, and rose again that they might live eternally with Him, is very small. Two thousand years after Jesus resurrected, this nation is 15% reached, and 1.9% saved. This is why we go.
In June, one of our teams ministered with our Thai Pastor both in Bangkok, and several villages where he is planting churches. They saw almost 120 saved, and there is a specific plan to open 3 more churches. The Kingdom of God will not grow without the hands, feet and mouths
of believers actively penetrating the darkness with the Light. Pray for our teams that go
to Thailand, and partner with us to build more churches in areas that are currently saturated by Buddhism and other radical, demonic forms of darkness.
