Truly

Truly.
If we truly believed what we say we believe—I mean, truly believed that there is a real Heaven and a real Hell, and that if a person does not know Jesus as their Lord and personal Savior, they will be separated from God—then doing something, anything, to help with evangelism at home and missions work overseas would drive us night and day.

If we truly believed that people around the world who have never heard of Jesus, who are surrounded and dominated by violent demonic religions, abusive false cults, and face dire living circumstances daily, will be separated from God and tortured eternally, there are things we probably would not say.

We wouldn’t say things like: “I don’t have the time.” “I don’t have the money.” “I’m busy.” “Missions is for missionaries.” “I’m not called to serve overseas.” “My family/school/job is my mission field.” “I can only do so much.” “Traveling is too hard.” “I’m not good at talking to people, teaching, or working with kids.” Or simply: “I honestly don’t want to.”

The crazy thing is that all of these statements are, in fact, true. We often don’t have the time, energy, money, or desire to reach people who lack access to the Gospel or have Jesus in their lives. This means we must make a conscious decision to reach the lost. Paul writes in Romans 10:14-15, “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?” People will die in their own sin and be separated from God eternally unless someone goes to them, tells them, and leads them to the One who can save them.
