My Roots, A Revelation

by | Jul 30, 2020 | Jennifer's Blog

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” – Proverbs 16:3

I love getting in the car and just driving. The ability to just go somewhere with the open road ahead and music in my ears warms my heart.  This month I am thankful I had the opportunity to visit family in Louisiana and New Mexico. My twin sister and her family live in N.M. and I have family all over the suburbs of New Orleans. I grew up right outside the city limits in New Orleans, La. and moved to Tn. in 2004.

While traveling and visiting my family is exhausting it does ground my heart. Something about going back home to my roots settles my soul. After visiting with my family and friends in the south, I often feel empowered. Like I can take on the world.

On long drives, you have time to think and reflect. I had some deep conversations with God about my missions training and why I was not able yet to head overseas. Deep pains and hurts started to surface. Thoughts of doubt tried to push through. ‘Did I hear God correctly? Am I doing the right thing?’ and such. I am thankful I serve a gracious, patient, loving God because while these thoughts circled my mind and threatened to overpower my emotions, I felt Him opening my heart to see His love for me. It’s like a veil was lifted from my mind and this joy flooded my heart. I was surrounded by a glow.

No matter my future, I know God loves me and I will follow Him and do my best to hear His heart.  God loves you too. My prayer for you is that you ask Him to open your eyes and heart to see how He loves you. He wants you to know how much He loves you.

I pray blessings over you today!
